ARE YOU FLYING FASTER THAN Vref?
Do you carry a little extra speed on final for safety?
If you do, the FAA and just about every experienced flight instructor will tell you “don’t do it!”. Carrying an extra five knots on final will result in floating along the runway, possible porpoising on the runway, and could add hundreds of feet to your landing distance. Adding those extra five knots will give ZERO benefit.
Certainly add extra speed in a GA airplane when you have a loss of flaps or when wind gusts are observed.
Slow down next time and notice your landings immediately improve and become safer
